Blog 444:
A strange-looking
creature visits my realmClose-up, it shows a triangular head on its long neck
I read long ago that its head is able to turn 180 degrees
Slowly … surely … I stalk it awhile
I watch its two large compound eyes
And three other simple eyes between, as they scan around
Unfortunate insects: crickets or moths, flies and hoppers …
All fall victims to its wanting appetite!
Its own kind, however better watch out alike …
I heard, its female specie, is known to devour
After or during it’s been pleased
By its friendly, unsuspecting male counterpart!
Lesson: ‘Can’t always judge a book by its cover …
Looking shy onset, but really sly … devious …
Daunting Female Mantid guiles
“Run away!” I say. “Run while she pretends to pray”!
