Daylight Breaks

Blog12:

A faint scratch on bedposts stirs the young morning
Ignored … intentionally disregarded, it increases intensity
Barking follows: “Arrrfff!  Arrrfff! Arrfff!” a voice insists

Translation: “Mama!  It’s morning!  Get up, Mama!”

At first note, I ask, “What about is the raucous?”

“Arrrfff!” transmits excitement from a familiar, friendly voice

“Arrrfff!” sends eagerness and energy from a tiny, yet vibrant mass

Translation: “I’ve come to tell you a new day has come, Mama!”

Sluggishly, I extend down a hand

A wet, cold and rich slurp bathes it

A ‘smackeroo’ of love and joy of sort dances around my fingers

Translation: “I can’t contain this happy feeling, Mama.  Come out now!”

A pull and a tug simultaneously arrest my covers
One leg, still bent, gets exposed.  The other lazily kicks the rest of them

I join on the floor and hug a bouncy body; she licks my cheek … chin … nose
Translation: “Isn’t today another good day to play, Mama?”

I pick her up.  I hug her tight: “Indeed it is little one.  Indeed it is!”
