Blog118:
Streamlining
and organizing anything is an intense task.
No matter how small the area needing a revamp, the thought that goes
with steps to take overwhelms the mind.
It almost freezes the being!
This
very day, I decided to venture in ridding my neglected closet of items that are
just there … taking space! It is a comparatively
modest closet, yet a few years of pushing things as far back had created
unsightly piles. I first rummaged
through a pile at the very top shelf. In
it were small, ‘girly’ presents I had tucked away for nieces and friends –
hats, gloves, all sorts of fashionable socks and leggings, broaches, earrings,
gadgets … etcetera, that I was going to wrap, but just had not done so. Next, I tackled the gawking, hanging ties …
all kinds – bolero or bolo, funky and nostalgic ones. Dated belts, multi-accessories, home accents,
and special trinkets crowd the next two shelves from the top. The last three bottom drawers below the
shelves collected still-wrapped T-shirts and other irresistible clothing finds that
looked good on the rack at shopping stores, but when tried, just would not
convince me to get out of the house in or with it! The shoe shelves looked a bit decent. Two Saturdays ago, I decided to pack a dozen
pairs of gently used shoes; they simply torture my feet when worn half a day,
so off they went to the ‘Donate’ box! I
saved sorting over my bags and the lined up slacks, shirts, and dresses for
another day. Just looking at them constricts
my brain!
Digging,
fumbling, and looking through seven shelves, ten drawers three hanging corners simply
snatched my entire day! My back
complains, my feet scream. It is no
picnic diving into a task that require so much time doing. I could actually
easily be avoid a long day ordeal such as today if only I had taken time once
every so often to clear clutter, and follow the concept- pick up something, rid
of one thing!
Neither
procrastination, nor hoarding pays, I learned the difficult way!
