Known to many as Leafhopper
It flies, flirts, mates
On sap it feeds utilizing its proboscis
It announces itself with a high-pitched screech
It’s a tiny strange-looking creature:
… prominent eyes set apart
… transparent wings
… conspicuous veins
It thrives year-round
It enjoys temperate-tropical climates
When it is threatened, it stings
Left alone, it fulfills its short life
But not until I chance-meet
My beautiful Spittlebug
My Cicada!
