Blog 504:
Songs of Yuletide season play in the air ...
Adverts of sales are boldly set out in pages ...
Meanwhile ….out there ... anywhere ...
People freeze in cold or rain and die of hunger or thirst
Forgotten and marginalized souls cry their loneliness
Mental illness and challenges warp emotions and minds
Neglected and abused children suffer in silence and mercy
The poor and the widowed wait for alms
Many go all-and-out to shop for unimportant presents
Or pleasing items of want and impulse
Many spend carelessly on extra and colorful lights
Or fanciful decorations
Many waste away food still good for consumption
Or buy gratifying and unessential foods
Many folks use up their time in senseless frolicking
Or binge on drinks that dull the body and mind
Meanwhile ... out there … everywhere
...
Under a bridge, thinly-clothed bodies hover close to get warmedIn a public park, the homeless settle on makeshift shelter
In traffic-stressed streets, young and old vendors peddle goods
In restaurants small and big, workers keep up with demanding diners
Of what is the buzz and fuss?
In remembrance of a historical time?
In keeping with holiday buzz-and-fuss crowd?
