Black
gook clings to window ledgesThick dust hangs over panes everywhere
In-between tiles hug myriads of dirt
And cobwebs dance up the ceiling
Anywhere one looks could not be missed
All transient visitors of old man Winter
“Get going; don’t abuse your welcome!”
Suggests warm, bright Spring …
They hear her, but choose not to listen …
They grip tightly …
Sleepily, they cleave longer to their cozy-found abode
Until Masters of the Home take Spring’s bidding
They grab hold of thick window drapes
They raise blinds and curtains
And invite the nest to breathe out and in
As if saying, “Welcome fresh Breeze and soft Sun …
Welcome to new gifts of life!”
