Away!

Blog 250:

Away with you!

Yes … you, you and you!

Away with you that invites dust

Away with you that sucks up my vigor

Away with you that doesn’t make me productive

Away with you that collects in my space

Away with you that piles up and crowds around

Away with you!

Yes … you, you and you!

Want

Blog 249:
Covet and want ...
We can’t resist this and that thing

They long to go for vacations they can’t afford
You yearn to be with her who has pledged her love
He craves for all things powerful
She fancies everything that glitters
I desire to be it all … NOW!

“Fool!” the Dark Angel exclaims.
“Don’t you know I furtively come to take you away …
Whilst you wallow in your greed?”

Shadows

Blog 248:

Regrets -
Compacted shame …
Feelings of guilt …
Pangs of conscience …
Disappointment and discontent …

We bemoan and grieve over all
We mourn reckless choices and decisions
We decry lost opportunities over actions or words exchanged

Yet we are too proud to put right where there was wrong
Yet we let regret fester and lick its wounds
Yet we put up a false façade and embellish our faults

We choose to exist in shadows
Instead of live in a world of truth!

Solitude

Blog 246:

Quietude

Brings the mind composure

Until it exposes all longings and thoughts

From within and without

Solitude

Elicits soul repose

Until it explodes for the bearer

All bottled-up discontent and rage

There is no ever present stillness

Only its dichotomous nature!

Dichotomy

Blog 247:

A flower blooms today …
Tomorrow it withers when its beauty is ravished.
The birth of a child brings momentous joy …
But sorrow comes upon all as death claims it.
Sunrises spring hope for the day …
Sunsets cut its promise.
Wealth makes us all reckless …
Poverty puts us in cautious mode.
Arrivals of happy sort bring excitement …
Departures engender the opposite.
Permanence keeps us rooted …
Change tips off our balance.

In which state would you rather be?

Pendulum Swing

Blog 245:
Tick … tock …
The clock’s hands go round and round
In rhythmic charge
Its pendulum swings unfailingly
Its metrical dance continuously pulses
Time and time again
Until its mechanism has had it
And someone tickles its lifeline-winder!

Vigil

Blog 244:
She calmly sits at her favorite sofa
Paws comfortably spread out
And head facing the window
Her eyes begin to shut slowly
But she fights to keep them open
At intervals, she watches … and pauses
Until she notes a movement in or out
Of her environs … her sanctuary …
She keeps a vigilant watch
For intruders or her Master’s return
So she could again feel excited
And safe in his arms!

"Bark!"

Blog 243:
Two ‘riotous friends’ wake
And begin frolicking about
In their daily lively ways
First they race to wake up their Masters
Still snoozing … catching extra Zzzzzzzzz’s
Hoping to pick up more energy for the new day …
But not today
Today they create raucous to startle
Today they make sure uproar happens
Today they must rollick quickly
And announce an intruder lurking
At the gates … embarking on an entry
Into their safe harbors …
“Bark!”
“AAaaaaaaarff!”
“Bark!” I say. “Wake up now!” the older one insists.
“Arrrrrf!” says the younger one
“Wake up! Wake up!” they both shout this time.
Masters awake and calm them, but to no avail
They mellowed not
Until Masters discover
A ferocious-looking fox lurking at the doors!

Winter Wind

Blog 242:
Cold Distressing Air
Penetrates, bleeds, soaks
When cold air touches skin, it seeks all notches
Then probes and pierces every nerve of one’s body
Until all bones tremble and quake!
If covers and heating gears could be reached for …
Well and good
Otherwise, one shivers …
Even faces reality of demise
From crushing, oppressive and overpowering
Winter Wind!

Whim

Blog 241:

Pull it back?
No!  Let it hang
And be wind-blown!
Part it?
Curl it, perhaps?
What does this crown need?
What look of it is desirable to the eye?

One look in the mirror …
Yes … just one!
That’s all that it takes
For tresses and unruly locks
To get snipped and chopped
By whim!

Let Be!

Blog 240:

Unwanted?
Discarded?
Superfluous?

Look around …

What thing exists that’s undesired?
What living thing is redundant to others?
What unsolicited feeling thrives?

Everything has a design and purpose …
Everyone ‘becomes’ whether or not uninvited …
Feelings surface as they’re triggered by an impetus …
Nothing blossoms without first a seed sown …
Something prospers when it is nurtured …

All things flourish first
Before they meet last breath or boom!

Live and let live!

Mirror ... Mirror ...

Blog 239:
Mirror doesn’t lie, eh?
Look into it
And find the truth
Of lines and wrinkles …
Those have formed
Little by little, I’m afraid …
Through ...
Neglect!
Weather!
Sleeplessness!
Age that keeps adding
Simply tells the truth
Of weariness …

The mirror crystalizes it
And warns-
The mirror resolves it
And announces-

You can’t hide
Advancing years!

Let it Be

Blog 238:

Let me be sad …
Let me be happy
Let me be angry …
Let me be calm
Let me be wanting …
Let me be content
Let me be mute …
Let me speak up
Let me sit still …
Let me rise up
Let me be empty …
Let my cup run over
Let me be …
Let me be chastised

Deny me …
Embrace me!

Peace Within

Blog 237:

Serenity …
A calm heart and mind
Soul in repose
Harmony with others
Within, tranquil nerves
Devoid of uproar
Quiet surrounding
Silent waters
Emptiness waiting to be filled …

Seek for each
And find everywhere!

Then bathe in peace!

Liberation!

Blog 236:

Trampled upon, I will not be
While my will and strength
Flowing from my veins
Allow me to rise up
Every time you pull me down …

You will not take advantage of my generosity
While I am able to decipher servitude
From happily and freely giving my brainwork
That takes you forward
While you intentionally leave me behind
Soon as you get to the top …

Today, I emancipate myself!
I take back my right to choose my path
Today, I free myself from all suppression
I retrieve freedoms to ride out tides
I liberate myself from a life of compliance!

Donkeywork

Blog 235:

From morn ‘til night
Work never stops!
Always, when one chore is finished
Another one begins
Like a never-ending circle
Of necessary toil -
Drudging, hustling, slogging
Either naturally falling at one’s hands and feet
Or enslaving …
Because I could not close my eyes
And ignore tough grind lurking there … here …
Everywhere my eyes spot dust, cobwebs
And ‘donkeywork’!

Indulgence

Blog 234:

Sweet tea of the southern states
Calming Chamomile tea of India
Spicy tea of Russia
Bitter Gourd tea of Malaysia
I like them all …
And depending on time of day
My mood and need
Or spontaneous want at whim
I could make myself a soothing drink
That also invigorates
And pleases my palate!

Self-rule!

Blog 233:

Independence …
I like to think of it as self-determination
But to many, autonomy of any kind
Attracts clashes of sorts:
Nonalignment is deviation from what’s known
Conventional thought is safety net
Subjection keeps control intact
Autonomous decision-making poses threat …

Independence …
I like to think of it as self-determination
But to many, self-rule of any kind
Attracts gnashing of teeth, tightening of muscles:
Individualistic practice is dangerous
Self-reliance breaks away from community effort
Helplessness commands puppet-like loyalty …

Independence …
I know it frees the mind and it boosts delightful emotion!

Independence …
It guards self from “hawks” and “sharks” of the world!
It elevates self-worth!
It nurtures freedom of thought and act!
It allows creativity to flow!
It encourages self-actualization!

Disagreement

Blog 232:

That shelf goes inside the bedroom …
The entertainment center stays here.
The desk-secretary comes out of the lounging room-
And it goes to the dining-study, please.
The Lazyboy gets donated!
We like it still, but it is huge and bulky.
There’s too much in this place!

“What about the desk in the bedroom …
Does it go or stay?”

That could go; it’s too large- like an elephant!
How did we accumulate these things?

“You bought and dragged them in, I think …
And did not give much thought to their utility?”

Why must you tell the cold truth?

Affection Wanted

Blog 231:
Dink: Go away!  I got here first.
Cinn: I want to get up there with you, please!
Dink: No … I don’t want you here!
Cinn: Would you come down here and play with me?
Dink: Go away, I said.  I don’t want to play!
Cinn: I’ll share my ball with you.
Please let me get up there with you?
Dink: Read my lips: NO!  Go away!
I want you to leave me alone.
Cinn: I’ll stay down here and wait ‘til you want to play.
Dink: Suit yourself.  I’m not going to play with you!
Cinn: I don’t mind waiting; I will wait!

Aaaarrrff!

Blog 230:

“Aaaarrff!

Aaarrrfff to you, I say
What are you doing?

How dare you walk in front of my house?
I’m on guard this hour
And you’re trespassing!

Aaarrrfff to you, I say
What are you doing?

Get out of my front yard
Or I’ll scare you some more
With my ferocious bark
Leave now!

Aaaarrff!”

Visitors

Blog 229:

Winged Creatures …
Bouncy Robins
Lively Bluejays
Spirited Cardinals
Full of life, they play on the ground
Hungry, it seems, they munch on early Spring treats
Seeds, young grass shoots, and twigs
They find the backyard pond and quench their thirst
As if that were not enough-
They amuse themselves …
Wallow, and frolic in the water!

Throb Insists

Blog 228:

Again, throbbing visits
Neck gets sore first
Then shoulders and back agonize
After that, lower back suffers
Followed by hands and fingers’ soreness
Next, the legs and feet get upset … uncomfortable
Soon … the body gives
From day-to-day toils
Until it all it could do
Is shut down
And move no more!

Time Saving?

Blog 227:

Daylight Saving

Hoard energy

Delay productivity

Hold back on sleep

Why must we turn the clock back …

Or move timepieces forward?

Silly, I say …

Just plain senseless!

Time Change

Restless ...

Blog 226:

Nothing hides one’s restlessness
Not one’s eyes or voice
Neither does one’s demeanor
Nor facial expression
Even the voice gets mute …
An agitated mind reflects all mixed feelings
Of anger, hurt, injury!

Where does one retreat when minds’ clash?
How does one block the whole being from freezing?

Pain must first go away
Before one’s restlessness subsides

Uneasiness has no way out
'Til mind and body heal!

For ME!

She woke up ...
She awoke from self-inflicted oppression out of the blue-
"I don't want any more to do domestic work ...
And I don't want to do what others always want me to do!"
She declared firmly.
She blurted without hesitation.
Just like that ... it was over-
Cleaning up and putting away dishes
Sorting, washing, folding or pressing clothes
Dusting window ledges, tabletops and counters
Making and re-making beds
Tidying floors and showers
Scrubbing tub and toilet bowls
Keeping the floors of the house swept
Picking up toys after kids' play
Making rooms pleasant to live in
"Enough of toils!"
"Enough of diligence!"
"Enough of everything!"
"Enough of anything for anyone!"
"I choose what I want for ME … now!"

In Motion ...

Motion unaware ...
Earth spinning on its axis
Sun creeping from the east
Blue skies hanging overhead
Spring water flowing down the mountains
Breeze blowing softly everywhere
My heart beating, pumping, sending
My brain searching, re-arranging, analyzing
Time moving, traveling, passing
Nothing stays still
Until 'being' is extinguished!

Wrath

Anger
Undesirable, unwanted, unsolicited
Anything unruly triggers it
Explosion or implosion worsens it
Loud and irate voices
Indignant, infuriated, emotions
All butt and grip
Until schism mounts or dissipates

Wrath!

Toys ...

Blog 221:

Playthings
Searched for, pleaded with, frolicked around
Shared, tossed, dragged
Amused selves with all day
Occupied mind with them time and time again
Shunned old ones over new ones
Loved and hugged best-liked ones
Nondescript objects that inspire
Tangible things that stimulate
Stirring, motivating, enthusing
Whether they’re raggedy or poised …
All bring solace and ease
To creatures of the lesser kind
Toys!

Time ...

Blog 220:
Time …
Unstructured time is a blessing-
When you own your time,
You are able to pilot your own world …
Time …
Unstructured time is a curse-
When you have all the time in your hand
People around you wonder what you do with it
Time …
Unstructured time is mine and yours to account
Let me mind what I do with my time
I won’t bother what you do with yours …
Time …
Whether it be a moment, an occasion, a period
Whether it be a spell, a stretch, a stage

Time …
Unstructured time …
It is fleeting
It is constant
It is unending
Lasting or temporal
It is in my hands!

Living Gift

Blog 219:
Brain ...
Remarkable, wonderful, marvelous
It soaks up information
It retrieves facts and details
It weaves concepts
It solves conflict
It analyzes simple and complex situations
It captures images
It feels joy and sorrow
It excites emotion
Astonishing, incredible, stupendous
Miraculous source of all human endeavors
Living gift!
